Dr. Katherine Noone, Assistant Professor of Instruction, is excited to be directing her first show here at UTA!  It has been a show that has been on her bucket list to direct for as long as she can remember as it is by her favorite composer, Stephen Sondheim, and is one of his most acclaimed shows, COMPANY.  She is delighted to work with such a delightful cast and excellent production team.

Meredith Knight Treminio, Assistant Professor of Instruction, is performing The Nutcracker with Dallas Ballet Company on November 30-December 2 at Granville Performing Arts Center in Garland, TX.

Felicia Bertch, Assistant Professor of Instruction, played the character Moor-Hen in The Moors by Jen Silverman which will open on October 29 and will close November 18 at Theatre Three in Dallas.  Professor Bertch was also accepted into a Devised Theatre Workshop with Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training (in collaboration with Pig Iron Theatre Company) in Philadelphia, taking place in January 2019.

Professor Felicia Bertch was a featured actor in the short film Tempestad which is currently making the festival rounds and recently won Best Drama Short in the Highland Park Indie Film Festival in Los Angeles. It was also nominated for Best Short Film at the Lone Star Film Festival and was an official selection for the Austin Film Festival. The film was written and directed by the UTA Film Department’s Professor Daniel Garcia and was a UTA Film Department and Theatre Department collaboration with costume design by Kris O’Brien and the acting talents of Professor Detra Payne and students Francisco Grifaldo-Cairasco, Darcy Doyle, Corina Sosa, Alex Johnson, Karla Zamora, Stephen Wykle, Zakk Shortes, and Coy Rubalcaba.

Detra Payne, Assistant Professor of Instruction, was the moderator for the Terry Crews Master Class.

Jared Land designed lights for the dance production, Conversations in Rhythm, which opened in October.  Alumni Kat Fahrenthold was the assistant lighting designer.

Liz Stevens, alumni, has been cast as Rhoda in White Christmas at the Firehouse Theatre and is assistant directing Our Town this winter at Circle Theatre

Dennis Maher, Associate Professor, will once again serve as announcer at the Fall 2018 CoLA Commencement.  He will also be appearing in three different roles in Circle Theatre’s production of Our Town in January of 2019.

Laurel Whitsett, Senior Lecturer, is the faculty supervisor for a UTA graduate linguistics student’s research projects entitled Bilingual Implicit Associations between English and Spanish and Ambiguous Multiple Constraints in English.

Alumni, Steven Alan McGaw (playwright), Stephen Eyre, Joshua Eguia, and Justin Rhoads, along with current student Kace Owens, and faculty member Dr. Natalie Gaupp will perform in Renfield: What Comes Next presented by SceneShop on October .
